Los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), también conocidos como Objetivos Mundiales, se adoptaron por todos los Estados Miembros en 2015 como un llamado universal para poner fin a la pobreza, proteger el planeta y garantizar que todas las personas gocen de paz y prosperidad para 2030. Los ODS generaron impacto en las formas de generar fuentes de trabajo para las mujeres a través de 7 principios que hacen énfasis en la acción de las empresas para promover la equidad de género. Además, orientan a las organizaciones sobre elaboración de programas de Responsabilidad Social Corporativa incluyentes y que permiten informar su compromiso a los stakeholders.
- Promover la igualdad de género desde la dirección al más alto nivel.
- Tratar a todos los hombres y mujeres de forma equitativa en el trabajo – respetar y defender los derechos humanos y la no discriminación.
- Velar por la salud, la seguridad y el bienestar de todos los trabajadores y trabajadoras.
- Promover la educación, la formación y el desarrollo profesional de las mujeres.
- Llevar a cabo prácticas de desarrollo empresarial, cadena de suministros y marketing a favor del empoderamiento de las mujeres.
- Promover la igualdad mediante iniciativas comunitarias y cabildeo.
- Evaluar y difundir los progresos realizados a favor de la igualdad de género.
