Luego de haber laborado por muchos años en espacios mayoritariamente masculinos, tanto en el sector financiero como publicitario, María Fernanda Ávila tenía mucho interés en apoyar el empoderamiento de las mujeres.
En marzo del 2019 comenzó a trabajar en un proyecto enfocado en mujeres artesanas, con el fin de capacitarlas y ayudarlas a comercializar sus productos como regalos corporativos. Para ello, cuenta Ávila, visitó distintas provincias conociendo e identificando a grupos de artesanas. Posteriormente, con apoyo de una antropóloga, realizaron entrevistas individuales para evaluar sus necesidades y poder construir un modelo de formación en diferentes ámbitos.
El programa de capacitaciones, denominado ‘TemTis ForMa’ (formación de mujeres artesanas), comenzó en marzo, de manera virtual. Dada la coyuntura, la primera temática que abordaron fue la promoción de la salud, enfocada en la prevención del covid-19. Sin embargo, el programa regular abarca cinco unidades: mujer, empoderamiento y familia; finanzas; emprendedoras; artesanías, y manejo de redes sociales. Al momento se ha capacitado a 53 mujeres en promoción de salud y en la primera unidad del programa oficial. En su mayoría son de Pichincha, Azuay e Imbabura.
La venta de sus productos como material de ‘merchandising’ apunta a empresas medianas y grandes, que promuevan la responsabilidad social. “Es un servicio de diseño personalizado, en el que la marca se vea reflejada y que cree recordación en su consumidor final”, explica Ávila. Los artículos que ofrece TemTis están elaborados con materiales naturales como paja toquilla, totora, tagua y otros. Entre las artesanías hay llaveros, paneras, canastas, separadores de libros, pulseras y mascarillas lavables. “A las empresas les presentamos un catálogo, pero también escuchamos al cliente para conocer qué necesita y cómo podemos trabajarlo”, explica la fundadora de la iniciativa. La Asociación Reina del Cisne, integrada por artesanas del Azuay, ha elaborado cajas pequeñas, tipo joyero, y llaveros para clientes de TemTis, producidos con paja toquilla. Recientemente, también envió muestras de manteles individuales. Además, ha recibido capacitaciones sobre la prevención del coronavirus, explica su presidente Ricardo Guartasaca. Gracias a un acercamiento con Acnur, la agencia de la ONU para los Refugiados, algunas mujeres en esta condición se han sumado a TemTis con la elaboración de bolsas ecológicas para diferentes usos, como llevar el pan, guardar joyas, servir de portalentes o de portamascarillas.
Son cinco mujeres, en su mayoría de origen venezolano. “Los materiales son biodegradables. Hace un mes entregamos cerca de 50 portamascarillas. Ahorita estamos haciendo pruebas de otros modelos”, cuenta Liliana Viso, quien forma parte del equipo de costureras y para quien esto le está ayudando a salir adelante. El proyecto social comenzó a vender las artesanías en mayo y ha logrado desarrollar convenios con cerca de 15 empresas, de sectores como consumo masivo, banca y farmacéutico.
